The difference between industrial hemp and drug marijuana

There are significant differences between industrial hemp and drug cannabis in a number of ways, which can be summarized from a variety of perspectives, including genetics, composition and use.
I. Genetic characteristics
Industrial hemp: the plant is thin and tall, up to 6 meters, with broad leaves. It has relatively low requirements for growing temperature and humidity and can be grown in a wide range of environments.
Drug cannabis: the plant is low and has narrow leaves. It needs to be grown in greenhouses and has harsher requirements for temperature, humidity and light.
II. Compositional differences
Industrial hemp: contains low concentrations of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), usually less than 0.3%, which is the psychoactive component of marijuana. At the same time, it is rich in cannabidiol (CBD), usually greater than 20%, CBD is a non-psychoactive compound that is relevant to many medical applications.
The drug marijuana: the THC content is upwards of 15-20%, which makes it strongly hallucinogenic and psychoactive. CBD, on the other hand, has a relatively low content of less than 10%.
Third, the difference in use
Industrial hemp: It is mainly used for industrial and commercial purposes, such as fiber production (making rope, textiles, clothing, etc.), paper manufacturing, and construction materials (e.g., hempcrete). Due to its environmental benefits and sustainability, industrial hemp is increasingly used in these areas.
Drug cannabis: Used mainly for illicit drug and recreational purposes, it is highly addictive and harmful. Long-term use of drug cannabis can lead to serious physical and psychological problems, such as insomnia, loss of appetite, irritability, easy anger, vomiting, tremors and hallucinations.
